Proceedings of Past Forest Nursery Association Meetings:

Using Frost Hardiness as an Indicator of Seedling Condition
Faulconer, Jay R.
1988: Vernon, CAN
Knowing the frost hardiness of conifer seedlings is of benefit to nursery managers and seedling users even if the potential for actual frost damage is not of major concern. Examples are presented illustrating the ability of comparative hardiness testing to reveal variation in seedling phenology brought about by genetic, cultural, and environmental factors. Implications for the timing of cultural practices and lifting windows are discussed.
